Zetsuen no Tempest - First Impression

I love Bones production. They always manage to create good anime adaptations. As wells as, having great animated visuals. I'd like to thank Bones for introducing me to Fullmetal Alchemist, Ouran High School Host Club, Darker than Black, and No.6. Which they ultimately became my favorite anime/manga series. I hope that Zetsuen no Tempest would later on become my favorite.


The characters:

Yoshino Takigawa is an average high school student. He's a friend of Mahiro. He is also the boyfriend of Mahiro's sister, Aika, who past away one year ago.

Aika is Mahiro's sister. She goes to the same school as Yoshino and her brother. One year ago, she gets killed by a unknown murder. It seems that her brother has no idea that she is in a relationship with Yoshino. They try to keep their relationship a secret from Mahiro and (I guess) from anyone else as well.

Hakaze Kusaribe is a powerful mage who gets marooned on a isolated island by Samon. He maroons her on that island to hinder her from using her powers and to prevent her from escaping. While he carries out his plans for world domination without her interfering.

Mahiro Fuwa goes on a one month hiatus away from school. He plans to take vengeance on whoever killed his sister, Aika.  Later on, Mahiro reunites with Yoshino, after saving him from a woman named Fraulein, who questions him about Mahiro's disappearance at gun point. Meanwhile, there is a disease spreading throughout their city called the black iron syndrome, turning any organic life into metal. Mahiro explains that the cause of this disease is by Samon and his clan trying to reawaken the Tree of Zetsuen. It gives them the power to create chaos around the world. But the only one who can stop this is Hakaze. He reveals that he has been helping the mage. He communicates with her by using a wooden doll communicator that she made. He makes a deal with her, if he is able to prevent the reawakening of the tree, then she will help him find the murder who killed his sister.   

So, Yoshino, Mahiro, and with the help of Hakaze, go on a mission to find out whoever killed Mahiro's sister and save the world.

Thoughts: So far, these are the character that were introduced in the first episode. I'm sure that there will be more characters that will appear later on in the story. But I am excited for this series. I'm not really familiar with the manga. But I'm glad that I am not because I just want the anime to surprise me. It looks like one of those stories where it's going have an epic twist or something mind blown can happen. I don't really know what will happen, but I am curious to see where this story goes. Either way, if this ends up being good or bad, I will keep watching it till the end.
