Sukitte Ie na yo - First Impression
I've heard that this shoujo series is very popular in Japan. So, out of curiosity, I did read a little bit of the manga and I thought it wasn't that bad. But later I eventually lost interest in it. I guess I lost motivation to continue on with it. Now that there is the anime adaptation, I will definitely follow this adaptation. Mostly because I'm too lazy to go back and finish the manga.
Main Characters:
Mai Tachiban has trust issues. This started ever since when she was a child. When one of her friends blamed her for killing their class rabbit. From that point on, she decides that she doesn't need any friends because she is afraid of being betrayed again. She's an outcast in school. She doesn't really talk to anybody or associate with anyone. However, that's all about to change when she gets the attention from a popular guy at school.
Yamato Kurosawa is the most popular guy at school. However, he is the first guy to actually take an interest in Mai. Ever since the day when his friend Kenji, who tried to take a little sneak peak under her skirt. Which caused her to get mad and during her outrage, she almost kicks Yamato, who was standing right next to Kenji, in the face. It was love at first kick. He later apologizes to her for that incident and tries to befriend her by exchanging phone numbers with her. But she refuses to give him her phone number, but he gives out his phone number to her anyway.
Mai is very suspicious of Yamoto. I mean, why would a popular guy be interested in a loner like her. During school, he tries to get her attention, but she simply ignores him. She also doesn't call him with the phone number that he gave her because she has no reason to do so. But on her way home from her part-time job, she gets followed by man who is stalking her. That's when she decides to call Yamoto for help. The creepy stalker approaches them and asks her if this guy is her boyfriend. Then, Yamato turns towards her and says that he loves her and gives her a kiss, which is also her first kiss.
Thoughts: Yeah I know, it's a very typical shoujo story. A boy meets girl and they somehow change each others life and an unlikely romance blossoms between them. I've encountered this type so many times. But I personally don't mind it all. As long as I find the characters to be intriguing, then nothing else matters. It's been a long time since I last looked at the manga, so I don't really remember much of what happens later on in the story, but I do know that things will get better. As the story progresses, you do get know some of the characters backstory and Yamoato is not just a guy with a pretty face. Anyway, I will be enjoying this anime.
Why does anime food look so good?
