Story

Based on a manga by Karuho Shiina which was later turned into an animated television series, the film stars Tabe as a high school student named Sawako Kuronuma. Because of her long dark hair and generally gloomy appearance, she’s commonly referred to as “Sadako” by other students—a reference to the character from Hideo Nakata’s 1998 horror film “Ring”. However, her life begins to change one day when a popular classmate named Shota Kazehaya (Haruma Miura) begins talking to her. His gesture of friendship gives her the confidence to be more outgoing and try things she never would have tried before. Eventually, her gratitude toward him leads to a budding romance. Thoughts: I thought that movie did do a thorough job on maintaining the essence of this series. All of the actors and actresses in this movie did an excellent job in portraying their roles. And, some them even looked liked the characters from the manga series. Haruma Miura as Kazehaya, I loved him in this movie and he definitely fits perfectly with his character. As for Mikako Tabe as Sawako, I liked her as well. She did a good job in being the timid and awkward Sawako. But mostly this movie pretty much summarized the first season of the animated TV series. Most of the events that occurred in this story went by very quickly, trying to fit the story within a two hour movie. However, I liked this movie adaptation. Even if you are not familiar with this series, you'll probably enjoyed it just for the charming characters. And, the innocent school drama of teen romance.
