Sprout (Ep 1) - First Impression
It's been a long time since I've seen a school-romance drama. And, I'm in the mood to see one. So, I thought that this might be a interesting drama to watch.
It starts off with Ikenouchi Miku (Morikawa Aoi), a high school student. As she walks up the stairs to her school, she reminiscences a event that occurred to her three months ago. A male student finds her sitting on the stairs, looking ill, and gives her a lending hand to the infirmary. However, she did not get a chance to see the face of that male student. So, she believes that the person who helped her is the fated person that she will be destined to be with. Returning to the present time, she hopes to find that person.
Later, Miku finds out that her parents decides to use their home as a lodging. They will be lodging three people at their home. The first lodger is Narahashi Souhei (Chinen Yuri), a student who goes to the same school as Miku. The second lodger is Taneo Kiyoka (Kawakita Mayuko), a second year University student. The third lodger is Takigawa Naoharu or Naoji (Hashimoto Ryosuke), a University student and otaku. But Miku isn't too thrilled about the lodging situation and she feels uncomfortable living with these three strangers.
Souhei notices her discomfort and talks to her about it. At that moment, Miku realizes that the fated person she was looking for is Souhei. This puts her mind at ease. However, she later discovers that he has a girlfriend. She soon learns that fate can be cruel.
Thoughts: I had no idea that Yuri and Lewis Jesse (as Katagiri Hayato) are a Johnny's member. A Hey!Say!JUMP and a Johnny's Jr member, I don't really pay much attention to these groups. But I'm not watching this because of them, I'm mainly attracted to the story. I hope that this drama will have a good teen romance story. As long as the drama can carry on an interesting character development, then it's good enough for me. Although, I do have a feeling that this story might take a typical shoujo romance route such as love triangles, misunderstandings, rivalries and so on. But I don't mind that, school-romance stories are my guilty pleasure. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to the next episode.
