Sprout - Ep 3

It starts with Miku contemplating on what happened between her and Hayato. He kissed her at the end of episode 2. However, while grocery shopping, she bumps into Hayato's younger brother as well as Hayato himself.  While Miku and Katagiri's younger brother were talking to each other, Hayato suddenly decides to go and get something to drink. Which he is obviously trying to avoid Miku. After he leaves, the younger brother asks Miku does she hate Hayato. She says that she doesn't understand him. The younger brother tells her that Hayato is not good with girls and has never been in love, despite the fact that he's always seen surrounded by a group of girls at school. And, he says that someday his older brother might fall in love with someone.

At home, the whole household is gathered for dinner, Souhei announces that he has soccer practice at school, and invites anyone who wants to come and watch. Kiyoka agrees to go to the practice and to cheer him on. But Miku is still undecided whether to go or not.. Later, when Miku and her mother are cleaning up, her mother suggests that Miku should bring a bento for Souhei during his soccer practice. But Miku disagrees with it because she's not his girlfriend. Her mother says that she heard Souhei's girlfriend, Ozawa Miyuki (Morikawa Aoi), is not coming to the practice. This news makes Miku very happy and so she decides to make a bento for him and go to the practice.

The next day, Miku finds out that Kiyoka won't be going to the soccer practice because her boyfriend is taking her out to the beach. So, Miku ends up going to the practice alone. During the soccer practice, a female manager of the school's soccer team comes up to Miku and says that she shouldn't get the wrong impression of Souhei, he is nice to everyone and that's why everyone likes him. Miku responds that she thinks no such thing. The manager then says "then that's fine" and walks away. Miku gets confused on what that was all about. She also notices that Hayato and his brother came to the see Souhei's practice as well.

However, during the middle of practice, Souhei's girlfriend actually shows ups. In which, Miku is very disappointed to see her here. During the end of practice, Miku was about to give Souhei her homemade bento, but Miyuki has also made many bentos boxes for Souhei and his team mates. Miku decides not give her bento to Souhei. She quickly excuses herself from the group and ends up eating Souhei's bento all by herself. But Hayato comes along and joins her and takes a sample of her bento. He also apologizes to her about the kiss. She says that she's fine with it, but she thinks that he's already use to doing that kind of thing. However, he says that it was his first time doing that. And, he finally realizes that he likes her and confesses this to her.

Thoughts: I thought that the antagonist of the story would be Miyuki. But after Miku meets her, she seems to be a nice person who just wants to get along with her. But Miku isn't too thrilled about becoming friends with her and finds her to be annoying every time she sees her with Souhei. But I didn't find her to be annoying. Instead, I find the female manger to be the annoying one. I don't know what her problem is or what connection she has with Souhei. Maybe, she likes Souhei as well. I'm guessing that the manger might be the antagonist of this story.

I'm surprised that Hayato confessed to Miku so early. Usually, waiting for someone to confess drags on for a long time. But bravo Hayato, he has the guts say it and he is not afraid. And, he seems to be such a sweet guy. Seriously Miku, forget about Souhei and just go out with Hayato instead.

I'm looking forward to how Miku will respond to his confession in the next episode. But I'm guessing that she might accept him because looking at the preview of episode 4, it looks like they will be going on a double date.

Miku vs. Miyuki's bento
They both look so good!
