Sprout - Ep 4
Continuing where the third episode left off, Hayato tells Miku that she doesn't have to give a response to his confession right away, and he knows that she likes Souhei. But he will wait for her answer. After a while, Miku reflects on this and gets all excited, since this is her first time that anyone has confessed to her.
After school, Hayato, Souhei, Miyuki, and Miku goes to the Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise amusement park and visit the aquarium. It got Miku thinking that this might be like a double date. While exploring the aquarium, Miyuki asks her if she's going out with Hayato, but she is still undecided about it. Miyuki tells her that she has had experience with unrequited love and being rejected. Miku questions her if she was able to soon forget about that unrequited love. But Miyuki just wonders if she could.
Souhei questions Hayato when did he start liking Miku. He says that it was around spring time, during the time when he was at school and over hearing Miku telling her friends that she wants her first love to be eternal and have a boyfriend to be with her forever. However, he doesn't believe in things like that. He asks Souhei if he believes in eternal love. Souhei thinks the same as him, based on his experience watching his parents go through a divorce. But he believes that he is different from them.
Miyuki and Souhei went ahead and decide to leave the amusement park early. Leaving Hayato and Miku all by themselves and they go for a walk in the park. Miku asks him why he chose her. She believes that he doesn't look like the type of guy who would be interested in her. He says that he never gets tired of looking at her. And, he could easily tell what she's thinking just by looking at her face. This makes her feel happy. Hayato reaches out for her hand, but as soon as she takes hold of it, she starts reminiscing about the hand that she had held with the fated person. She notices that Hayota's hand is not the same as the fated person's hand. She lets go if his hand and apologizes. But he ends up leaving without her. She realizes that she has hurt his feelings.
Back at the Ikenouchi resident, Miku's parents are getting worried about her because it's already 10 PM and she still hasn't come home yet. They've tried contacting her through her cellphone, but there's no answer. Souhei calls Hayato to ask him if he's with Miku right now. But he tells him that they've parted ways. So, Souhei goes back to the amusement park to find Miku. Eventually, he finds her. He gets angry at her for making everyone worried, but glad that she is safe. As they walk across the bridge that connects the park to the main land, we see Hayato looking at them from behind. I guess he was also trying to search for Miku.
As they head home, Miku feels a little guilty about leaving Hayato like that. Souheis asks her if Hayato was no good for her, but she says its not like that. Then, she reaches out for Souhei's hand. She knows that this is the hand of the fated one. She tells him that she wanted to see his face.
Thoughts: I hope that by the end of the drama, Miku learns to let go of this fate idea. She believes that someday she will meet that one person who will be with her forever. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that idea. But realistically, it's difficult to obtain that dream. I think that the fate idea has clouded her judgment. Like, with Hayato, she doesn't accept him yet simply because he is not the fated one. But I hope that she doesn't end up too deep in her fate idea, otherwise she might unintentionally hurt herself and other people's feelings.
