Sprout - Ep 5

What's better than starting your summer vacation by studying? Well actually, anything is better than doing that. Unless, your studying with a person that you have a crush on, then that's a different story.

In school, Miku receives her final grades for her courses. But she has a very low score on math and science. Takeru and Arata (Kentaro Yasui), her classmates, also failed on other subjects. They have to take supplementary classes. Then, she decides to have a small study group at her house

In the next scene, Kou and Souhei takes a break from playing soccer. Kou can tell that his brother, Hayato, has found someone he likes. He wonders if his brother is able to return his affections toward the person he likes. Hayato is known to build a wall between himself and others. Kou is worried to see his brother getting hurt. But Souhei reassure him that Hayato's feelings will reach out to the person he likes and he will help him out. Then, he gets a phone call from Naoji.

Back at the boarding house, Naoji shows Miku and her classmates on how to solve a particular equation. Then, Souhei and Hayato shows up. It was Naoji who called on Souhei for help. Naoji is good at math and science, but not with physics. So, he asks him to help Miku with her physics studies. But Souhei suggest that Hayato should help her because he is very good at physics. But Miku and Hayato feels a bit awkward seeing other. Especially, after what happened at the aquarium.

Miku and Hayato are studying in Miku's room. Souhei enters her room and checks on them to see if they are making any progress, but it seems that they are not making any progress. Souhei starts a conversation about a figure that is sitting on Miku's shelf and starts talking about how he still have one of these. He tries to include Hayato into the conversation. Miku and Hayato becomes very engrossed in their conversion. So, Souhei leaves the room and he seems to be happy that they are talking to each other again.

Miku and Hayato notices that they are physically close to each other and so they stop conversing and resume back to their studying. Hayato says that if he was able to go back in time, he would return back to the time where they were at the aquarium. Miku asks him why is he so nice to her. He says that he's nice to her because it's her.

Miyuki comes by and brings in a huge watermelon to share with everyone. While on a break, everyone is gathered around the front porch, eating watermelon. However, Miyuki notices that Souhei has been paying more attention towards Miku. Later, when they are alone together, Souhei admits that he is happy to see Miku and Hayato are getting along well. He says that it's refreshing to see a girl who can't study. I think that statement made Miyuki a bit ticked off. Later on, Miku says good bye to Hayato as he leaves. And, thanks him for his help. As she walks towards her house, she starts to get a headache.

As Souhei  walks Miyuki to the bus stop, she quickly embraces him. She tells him that if he were to leave, she might die. But Souhei reassures her that he won't go anywhere and he will always be with her. But Miyuki feels a bit of sadness.

Souhei returns home and sees Miku crouching on the ground and looking sick. She tries to stand up, but he catches her before she falls over. He carries her inside the house and tells Miku's mother that she has a fever. He then returns to his room and starts reminiscing the day Miku said to him how she wanted to see his face. He seems confused about his own feelings for Miku and doesn't know what's wrong with himself.

Outside, Miyuki is standing by the bus stop, looking teary eyed. Souhei comes around the corner and sees her. He asks her "what's wrong?" But she runs up to him and hugs him.

Thoughts: I think I understand why Miyuki is considered to be the annoying one. Miyuki has embraced both Hayato and Sohei, the two hottest guys in school. And, I think I can hear many fan girls screaming "how I envy her!" But at this point, I'm guessing that she's the type who has a hard time letting go of someone she likes. Moreover, I think that she's afraid to lose Souhei to Miku.

Looking at the preview of episode 6: Miyuki looks upset, Miku understands why everyone calls Miyuki "Uzamiyu" (Uza is taken from uzai, meaning annyoing), Souhei argues with Miku, and Miku hugs Hayato. Finally, some teen conflict is about to start.
