Quick Round-up of Summer Anime 2017
I will no
longer do summary/information posts on anime/Jdramas (like these ones). I’ve
gotten tired of doing those things. Mostly I did those to keep track of what I
was watching. I want to do something different and something easy that I
can do. Which is to do a quick (first impressions) roundup of anime that I'm watching for this this season. (And, I will also do the same for Jdramas.)

Comedy

Aoyama
is a great soccer player, but he doesn’t like to be touched, get dirty, or
handle the soccer balls, unless if it’s for the goal. He even cleans the club
room and every single balls after school. I feel sorry for Aoyama-kun that he
has to deal with his OCD for cleaning. I’ve read and seen videos about it and
it’s a serious mental disorder that takes over a person’s lifestyle. There’s
nothing funny about that. Despite his disorder, everyone loves him as a great
soccer player, but they also make fun of him for his cleanness habits. However,
I don’t think the clean freak comedy is going to keep me entertained till the
end. By the time I post this, I already have dropped it.

Gambling is scary, especially if you’re going against someone with a gambling addiction like Yumeko Jabami. She transfers to a private school, where the student hierarchy is based on how well you can gamble. What’s entertaining about the show is watching how these girls manipulate the games. Yumeko is able to identify the cheaters and see the loopholes on how to win the game. One thing that I agree with Yumenko is that it’s boring to be playing against someone who cheats all the time. So, she turns the table on them and raise the stakes higher. It’s a rinse and repeat, each episode Yumeko wins and moves on to the next big opponent. But in Episode 3, I was surprised that she can also lose. Which, was a nice change because it makes her human. Also, gambling is based on luck and she can’t win 100% of the time. I wonder if Yumenko will learn her lesson or she will stay the same, with her twisted personality. I want to continue watching it and see how the game changes

The first episode wasn’t bad, it got me interested in learning who these guys are. There’s two groups of men in a relationship. One is the student and teacher couple and the other is a naive teenage boy with his childhood friend/a yandere guy. I’m a bit concerned about the yandere guy and I’m not in the mood to see a crazy messed up relationship. That’s all I can say, I’m still on the fence with this one. I hope that it will be a little better than SuperLovers.

What got
me to take a look at this anime were the steampunk and Victorian era themes. (I
have a fetish for them.) I didn’t expect much from a story about cute girls
doing cute little spy things. But I was surprised, it’s actually dark and these
cute girls are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Yes, they do kill people. I
already like the characters especially the main character, Ange who’s smart, a
great liar, and a very good spy (more like a secret agent). She seems to have a
dark history and I want to learn more about her. From watching the first
episode, I was confused on what the main story was about and it threw me off a
little. But by eps 2-3, I’m getting a clearer picture as to what agenda does these
girls have, what side they play on and why are they attending a fancy private school. Now, the story is getting more interesting. It seems
like as the story progresses, it will slowly reveal its twists and we will learn
something new about these characters. I’m actually enjoying this. This anime
has a strong storytelling and I hope it will remain that way till the end of
the show. I will definitely continue to watch this.
