Aldnoah.Zero 2 - First Impressions

Amen!

The second season has finally arrived. After the traumatic finale from the first season, I've been anticipating on getting a clear answer to who lived and who died. This post does contain spoilers for those who haven't seen this the first season.

Taking place 19 months later, Sir Slaine Troyard has moved up a rank becoming a Knight. He has spared Saazbaum life, even though he was the one who planned for the assassination of Princess Asseylum. With privileges of becoming a knight, Slaine gets to have a personal manservant named Harklight (oh boy).

MUST. PROTECT. Hnnggg!

It's no surprise that mostly everybody, including me, is watching this show for Slaine. Because, this guy has gone through so much. I hope by the end of the show that he at least gets an happy ending. After all the suffering and other shizz he has gone through, he deserves an award.

Inaho is alive. He has fully recovered from Slaine's point-blank-shot-to-the-face and he now has a mechanical left eye. It seems that Asseylum's blood got on him and somehow he can turn on the Aldnoah drive. I'm a bit confused about this part, I hope they explain how this actually works later on. As I said before in my previous Aldnoah First Impression post, I wanted to see Inaho and Slaine to reconcile with each other and work together, but the way things are going, I just don't know.  

What happened to Princess Asseylum? Well, it looks like she's being replaced by a new Princess, Lemrina.  She's taking the guise of Asseylum in public. So, thinking that Asseylum must be really dead. But no! she's still alive, floating in a water tank and still recovering.

The one thing that I don't like are troll deaths. I thought that the anime will take risks in killing some of the main characters, but none of them are dead. I don't mind that Inaho lived, but I was a little disappointed that Asseylum is alive, I really don't care about her. And, this is the second time that she survived death. I do hope that they don't pull off another troll death after this.

So far, this show has been really entertaining and it never bored me. Mostly, I want to see Slaine make it through till the end. Other than that, I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the show and see how it all ends and whatever twists and surprises that are going to come.
