Kagi no Kakatta Heya SP - Thoughts

Welcome back Enomoto-san. Where have you been?

Just in case if you forgotten all about the drama or have no idea what it's about, here's a short version of the main plot: Aota (Erika Toda) and Serizawa (Koichi Sato) are both lawyers working at a law firm. They've encountered many clients who have problems that involves with locked-room-mystery cases. Serizawa doesn't want to get personally involved in these cases. But Aota wants to help these clients. So, she hires Enomoto (Satoshi Ohno), who is a security specialist, to help them solve these cases. And, he's very good at deducing how a criminal would get away with something in a locked room.

So, the Special takes place a year and a half after Enomoto disappearance. Serizawa has been dealing with a client named Fujibayashi (Sasumu Korobe), who wants to donate his late wife's art collection to an art museum. However, Fujibayashi has been murdered in his own home. So, Serizawa can't go on with the donation until the murderer has been caught. Luckily, Aota and Serizawa gets reunited with Enomoto, who once again help them to solve the locked room mystery.

Enomoto deduces that there are four possible suspects who could be involved in Fujibayashi's murder. They are Kohiyama (Yoshinori Okada) Ikuko (Hitomi Kuroki), Hiramatsu (Shiro Sano), and Inaba (Naohito Fujiki). Kohiyama is the caretaker. Ikuko is Fujibayashi's niece and the only living relative left to inherit all of his fortune. Hiramatsu is the art museum director. Inaba is an famous artist who is working on a "Alice in Wonderland" themed art exhibition.

I remember that the drama's ending left off where Enomoto was last seen at a airport and it's unknown where he's going. Also, the stolen diamonds that were involved in the final murder case disappears at the same time that he decides to take a trip. So, this sends me a red flag that there's something suspicious about him. But after watching the Special, it confirms that Enomoto is a thief.

The funny part was that after Enomoto came back from his trip around the world, Serizawa keeps prodding him with questions about where did he get the money to travel. But Enomoto only responds with he used his own savings. Whatever you say Enomoto.

The two main things that I liked about the drama are learning how the culprit set up their intricate plans to get away with what they did and seeing the main trio: Aoto, Serizawa, and Enomoto. It was nice to them working together again. Their interaction with each other are always hilarious. However, as usual, the culprit is very easy to spot and the drama is mostly about how they did it. All in all, there's nothing surprising about the Special, but I enjoyed it and it was good mystery story.
