Akumu-chan - Eps 5-6
This show has gotten more interesting. Usually, I'm not fond of episodic plot lines because it drags on and sometimes it has nothing to do with the main story. But in this drama, the subplots are connected with the main plot and it makes more progress with the story.
Episode 5
-Kotou decides to to put an end to his dream research project because he believes that the dream machine is dangerous and it is not ready for the public to know about it.
-Shiki quits being Kotou's assistance and decides to do his own research.
-Shiki seeks help from the school nurse to help him obtain or steal Yuiko's dream. By using a special pillow he created. When someone sleeps on it, it will be able to record a person's dream onto a dream card.
-Also, we learn that Ayami sleeps walks because she is repressing a bad memory that she had during her childhood.
Episode 6
-Yuiko begins to question about her own mother, since she died after she was born.
-Shiki reveals to the public about his dream research and shows everybody Yuiko's precognitive dream. And, to prove that this machine is useful was by showing one of Yuiko's dream sequence that them helped identify a child kidnapper in their area.
- I hope that I am interpreting this right because Ayami's childhood past is a little vague. But I think that Ayami's real mother left her at a very young age. She ends up being an orphan. She later gets adopted by a new family with a adoptive mother and sister. Later on, she pushes her adoptive mother into a oncoming train (Yikes!). Also, they have a pet dog named Yumenoske. (There's a clue as to where the Yumenoko creature comes from).
-So, Ayami finally remembers her repressed memory and she discovers that she is a murder.
Thoughts: At first, I didn't understand why Kotou doesn't want his dream machine to be reveled to the public. Because I think it's a cool device to see one's dreams. But I think he mostly want to protect his granddaughter's precognitive dreams from being exploited by others. I guess that part makes sense, if he decide to end the research because of that reason.
For now, Shiki can be viewed as either a good or bad guy. He either wants to follow his own ambitious of becoming a famous scientist or he simply just want to help others. Although, looking at the next episode's preview, something tragic happens to him. I hope that was just some bad dream.
