Sprout - Ep 9
Miyuku explains to Souhei that when she was in her second year of middle school, she used to like Hayato. She even confessed to him, but she got rejected. However, after Souhei confessed to her, her heart has change and she began to like Souhei. During the incident, she felt like Souhei was becoming more distant from her. So, she got a little worried and that's why she wanted to hug Hayato. She turned to him for the emotional support. Souhei understand what she is saying. In fact, he is actually happy that she is being honest with him. So, everything turns out to be alright between the four of them.
Later that day, Miku's parents, Kiyoka, and Taki, all return home. But they also notice that Souhei has been looking quite down. So, Miku goes to see him and tries to cheer him up. Souhei apologizes to her about what had happened. But Miku doesn't mind it at all. She notices that he is trying to act cool in front of Miyuki. She knows that on the inside, he wanted to be angry with Miyuki. And, it's written all over his face. Souhei denies this, but Miku tells him that in this house, he doesn't have to force himself.
The next day, Souhei and Miyuku goes on a date to see a movie, while Miku and her friends visits Hayato at his part-time job as a waiter. As they leave, Miku tells Hayato that she will go and visit Kou. He promises her that he will meet up with them after he finishes work.
As Miyuki and Souhei head home, she tells him that she feels he has become more distant from her. Ever since he started boarding at Miku's house. He tells her that Miku's home has become his real home and feels really comfortable there. But Miyuki gets upset with him for not understanding what she meant. He doesn't understand her and asks her what he should do. In order to not make her worry, he texts, calls, and makes other plans with her. However, Miyuki concludes that Souhei has done everything for her, but not for his own sake. She questions him about whether he still thinks of her, able to only look at her and to tell her that he loves her. She also tells him that she loves the Souhei who loves her, but she doesn't love the Souhei that is in front her right now.
Later, Miyuki calls Souhei to apologize for being mad at him. But she gets no response from him. At that moment, Souhei is too busy playing soccer with Miku and Kou to hear his phone ringing. Later on, Hayato comes and sees that Souhei is also there with them. But he doesn't look too happy seeing him there.
Miyuki is disappointed that Souhei didn't answer her call. She probably thinks that he is angry with her. But as she stands alone on the side of a bridge, a moving train from a distant passes by obscuring her from the viewers. After the train passes by, Miku is nowhere to be seen and her hat floats in the air as it falls down.
At home, Souhei gets a phone call saying that Miyuki has not returned home from yesterday. He has tried calling her on her cellphone, but there is no answer. So, he sets off on his bicycle to look for her.
Thoughts: I am surprised that Miku took the incident between Hayato and Miyuki rather well. I thought she was going to feel betrayed by them. But after hearing Miyuki's explanation, she understands that there was nothing going on between them. Problem solved in five minuets or less.
When I saw the bridge scene with Miyuki disappearing, it really shocked me because I actually thought that this was an implied suicide scene. However, looking at the preview for episode 10, we see that Miyuki is alive and well. Thank god. If she really did took that path, I would of been very disappointed with Miyuki.
Anyway, I think I understand why Souhei is attracted to Miku. Because, Miku understands his feelings and he can be more of himself when he is around her. But when he is with Miyuki, he tries to meet her expectations on what he believes that's best for her.
In the next episode, Miyuki is going to break up with Souhei. I personally think that this the best for them.
