Fractale - Thoughts

Story: A young boy named Clain lives in a world where people use the Fractale technology. Every individual is hooked up to their high tech devices, which makes them less likely to interact with the other people. Every citizen is implanted with a Fractale Terminal, so that they can have easy access to the Fractale's resources and also being monitored by the their data system.

Clain lives in a small cottage with his parents, who are Doppels. Doppels are projectile avatars that people use, so that they don't have to physically be there or appear as themselves. One day, Clain meets Phryne, a priestess who was chased by some people, and Clain lets her hideout at his place. Later, she disappears and leaves a pendant, which Clain examines it and out comes a girl name Nessa, a data Doppel.

However, both Clain and Nessa are kidnapped by a group called the Lost Millennium, which leads them to a place called Granitz. It's a village where individuals had stopped using Fractale's technology, and instead do things the old fashion way such as growing their own food, and avoiding the use of the Fractale's data networks. But the Lost Millennium are actually a rebel group who wants to take down the Fractale system. They believe that the Fractale system took away the human way of life. And, they also believe that Nessa and Phyne are the key that will help them to take down the Fractale system. So, Clain enters an adventure where he's not prepared to sign up for.

Thoughts: At first, I thought that this series was going to be a light-hearted and straightforward story. But, it has much more darker elements. The Fractale system seems not so bad when it comes to helping people live their life more easier and convenient. But in reality, it has its dark side and things aren't what they seem to appear. It also raises a lot of thought provoking ideas about technology controlling the way humans live.

I thought that this series had a lot of potential with its unique story, but unfortunately the anime is only 11 episodes long. So, there was not much time to explore some of the intriguing elements in the story. It also had a few interesting characters that I really wanted to know more about. Like, Sunda and Enri, brother and sister duo who are part of the LM. I wanted know how they started the LM movement and they seem to have a lot of stories to tell.  Another character, Dias, he is also a part of the LM, but he leads a different team. He's a cold-hearted person, but he's such an awesome badass character. However, this series could have been great if it was like a 24 episode long show. That way it could of had enough time to develop the characters and explore a little more of the Fractale system.

Overall, I did enjoyed watching the anime, even though I sort of wanted more out of this show. I would recommend anyone to watch the anime, if you want a follow a short and easy scifi-adventure story. But at least the show still entertained me from start to finish and it was a fun ride.
