Kimi ni Todoke 2 - Anime Review
The
two protagonists are tangled up in a web of misunderstandings. Finally,
Kazehaya has the guts to tell Sawako how he really feels about her. But as he
tries to confess, he quickly denies it and steps down. This leaves Sawako even
more uncertain about her own feeling for him. Unlike the first season, Sawako's
rival was Kurumi. But this season, Kazehaya has a new rival, Kento. Kento, who
seems to be curious about Sawako, pushes her out of her comfort zone and
persuades her to give up on Kazehaya since their relationship is only
unrequited. But after that, things start out to become even worse. Kazehaya
starts to have some doubts about whether or not she has the same feelings as he
does and thinks that Sawako only likes him as a friend. On the other hand,
Sawako has heard that he already has someone he likes (Sawako), and feels even
more bothersome to him. They continue in an endless cycle of misunderstandings.
It's
was so frustrating to see Sawako and Kazehaya's relationship hasn't gone
anywhere beyond friendship. And, every time Kazahaya confesses to Sawako, she
is still in denial and can't see that he likes her more than a friend. Episode after
episode, the plot gets slower and more depressing. These two couples seem to
have no hope at all in progressing their relationship. However, everything will
eventually turn out to be alright and all of their problems will be resolved in
the end. Even though this season was slow, the anticipation and build up for the confession scene was definitely
worth watching.
But
I loved the background art and all of the scenery were very beautiful and has a lot
vivid colors. Every scene could easily be made into desktop wallpapers.
I hope that the 2nd season is not the end for this animated series, but if it is, I guess I have to read the manga in order to continue through the rest of the story. What I liked about this series is that it's
a simple tale of innocent romance between two teenagers. But this
season could be the turning point for Sawako and Kazehaya's relationship. And,
hallelujah! it's about time that Sawako and Kazehaya confront each other,
properly confessed their feelings, and finally sort out all these
misunderstandings.
