Story:
While coming home from school, Koichi (Aoi Nakamura) sees a shooting star
rising from the sky. He thinks that this is odd because usually a shooting star
falls downward. The next day, he hears about his high school being haunted by a
ghost. However, all of the odd phenomenon started right after Norio (Kanata
Hongo) moves in next door to his apartment. He also transfers to his school. There
are weird things happening with Norio.
At the start of the show, I didn't know what to expect from it. I was so confused to what was going on, because it starts with the students witnessing a ghost sighting at their school and there's an old grandpa living next door whose suffering from dementia. Then, Norio comes out of nowhere. It raises a lot questions like, how are these events connected to each other? But by the time we get to the 3rd episode, it all started to make sense. Norio is a alien. Well, that explains a lot.
Going further into what the story is about: Norio came to Earth to prepare for the arrival of the queen and the princess from his world to come to this planet. He has a futuristic "smartphone" that has an app for brainwashing/mind controlling other people. This explains how he can easily be transferred to Koichi's school without further questions asked. While he's in school, he observes and collects data on what he learns about the school's environment and other miscellaneous information. But the real mystery is what is Norio and his alien friends purpose for coming to Earth and what connections do they have with Koichi.
I liked the atmosphere of the drama, everything felt very natural. I liked the way the actor portrayed their roles and it felt like there were actual students interacting with each. The drama does take its own time to develop the story, but it didn't feel too slow because the episodes are only 30 minutes long. It has a good balance of a slice-of-life drama and Sci-fi mystery developing in between.
After rewatching it with subs, I appreciate a little more than I did when I watched for the first time around. It did took me a while to get into the show. But it does have an intriguing SF story and it was very different. I do recommend the drama if your looking for something different or if your a SF geek, you might like this.

Does anyone know what the opening theme is? I love it.
