Kaibustu-Kun - Final Thoughts

This series, which was released in the 1960s, is based on a manga written by Fujiko Fujio. Also, best known for creating a popular long series work such as, Doraemon. Kaibustu-Kun has already been made into an animated series. Now for the first time, it's be adapted into a live-action drama, starring Ohno Satoshi as Kaibustu-kun.

The beginning of the story starts off in Kaibustu Land (Monster Land), where Kaibustu-kun is the successor to his father's, King Kaibustu, throne. However, the king decided not to give his son the rule of authority just yet because his son is still inexperience. So, his father sends kaibustu-kun and his companions including, Dracula, Wolfman, and Franken, to the human world. Meanwhile, they meet a boy named Hiroshi, an elementary student, and he is looked after by his older sister, Utako, since their parents have died. But at the same time, in the Demon world, there is a Demon King (played by Matsuoka Masahiro of J-pop band Tokio) who was defeated and has been stripped away all of his powers by the current King Kaibustu. While the Demon King is in hibernation, another Demon named Demorina who is trying to restore the Demon King's power. While in the human world, Kaibustu-kun learns a few life lessons of friendships and hardships of human beings.

I thought that Ohno did a great job as his role of a short tempered and self-centered prince with no common sense what-so-ever. Ohno does a great job at expressing a lot of emotions for his character. I love his facial expressions, it was hilarious.

I have laughed a lot during the show and cried especially towards the last episode of this drama. Also, Mastumoto Jun makes a small appearance at the end of the last episode, which was fun to watch. In addition, they are also releasing a special on June 26. Overall, I thought that this show was a very entertaining family drama to watch.
