Moyashimon (Live-Action) - Drama Review
Moyashimon gets to be adapted into a live-action J-drama. This series is an adaptation from Masayuki Ishikawa's Moyashimon: Tales of Agriculture manga. Also, the manga has already been adapted into an anime, which was released in 2007.
Story: This story follows a freshman college student named Sawaki Tadayasu (Nakamura Yuichi). And he has the ability to see and communicate with microbes, which are bacterial organisms. However, he can see these bacterias with his own naked eye instead of looking through a microscope. One of the professors at the agricultural university named Keizo Itsuki (Kurosawa Toshio ) is already informed about Sawaki's ability. Together, with the help of his assistant, Hasegawa Haruka (Kato Natsuki ), they use Sawaki's ability to help them identify the different bacterias that lives in their environment and also points out the good bacteria from the bad ones. There are other characters in this series in which Sawaki gets to meet in school such as, Yuki Kei (Okamoto Azusa), Sawaki's childhood friend, Hazuki Oikawa (Haneyuri), who hates germs and cares about cleanliness, Aoi Muto (Chisun), president of the UFO club, and Kaoru Misato (Nishida Koji) and Takuma Kawahama (Kimura Akihiro), who takes advantage of Sawaki's power and use it to make some money.
Review: I've almost completely forgotten about this series. I have never read the manga, but I have watched a little bit of the anime. I thought it was kind of a ridiculous story about a boy who can see all these bacterial things that I had to drop the anime. But this series is also educational, it talks about the different kinds of bacteria and microbes that is in our environment.
I thought that this live-action drama was surprisingly enjoyable. This show definitely taught me a lot of things about bacteria that I did not know. In addition, they don't show microbes as a small object like you see in a microscope, but instead these "little creatures" are in a cute 3D animated form. This genre is educational and it might sound like a boring subject, but there are a lot of comedic relief in this drama that will keep you entertained throughout this series.
