Shingeki no Kyojin S2 – First Impressions

It’s been 4 years since the anime first started and now here we are with the sequel. Will we finally get our questions answered or, will they tease us with even more questions?! . . There will be SPOILERS below for those who have not seen season 1.

First, I don’t think that we need to go over the plot of the story, by now everyone knows about it. Also, check out my Quick First Impression post of season 1. Second, I don’t need to tell you how great the animation production is, we know it’s awesome. Wit Studio has been producing amazing animation works, so I applaud them for their dedication and hard work. 

Let’s get to the mystery of the story. This is a recap of some of the important key events that happened and some unanswered questions that need to be solved.

1. Why are people turning into Titans?  
2. Eren has a key to his basement, back in Wall of Maria, that his father gave him. What is so special about this basement? Is this the key to knowing how Eren has the power to turning into a Titan?
3. Where’s Eren’s father? 
4. Annie, the female Titan, is in a crystal coma. She has to come out of there sometime.
5. The Church of the Walls, a religious-cult, they seem to be hiding something.   
6. There’s a Titan big foot called the Beast and he can talk. 
7. Titan Walls? 
8. Dinosaurs and flying whales and Elephants, oh my! (opening title)

I doubt that they’ll be covering all of this in a 12 episode arc. Yes, I know, we waited 4 years for just 12 episodes?! But doing some reading, Wit Studio is having staff shortages, managing budget, and they are backed up with other anime projects. So, that’s understandable. At least, we have something to watch. 

From the preview for the next episode, it looks like we are going to get to know about the other supporting characters. We already know about the main trio, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin’s story. It’s time for the other characters to shine as well and get their point of view. 

I’m not sure what’s to come from the new season, but I know that it’s going to be something surprising and it’s going to give us one hell of a journey. I’m not following the manga, so if anyone posts spoilers in the comments, please keep those secrets to yourself.
