Story: The story takes place in Tokyo in 2039. After the outbreak of the unidentified virus "Lost Christmas" in 2029, Japan has been under the control of a multinational organization called GHQ. Ouma Shu is a 17-year-old boy who has a psychic power in his right hand. He can use the power "Ability of King" to extract tools or weapons from his friends. He has been avoiding making trouble for others but his life changes when he meets a girl named Yuzuriha Inori, a member of a resistance guerrilla group called "Undertaker", whose members pilot mecha weapons to fight against the government. Final Thoughts: I was going to drop this after episode 12, but since I decided to watch this, I might as well commit myself to watch it till the end. There were some episodes that were really good and some that were bad. It just keeps going up and down to the point where I just cannot take this anime seriously anymore. However, I really had to push all of my biases out of my mind to enjoy this anime.
I thought that one of the biggest problem that hindered me from enjoying this was because of the inconsistency with the build up plot. There were a lot of episodes that felt disconnected to each other. Like, one episode will tell it's story, and then the in the next episode will show a new subplot and information without any build up or explanation in between. Even some of the character's sudden changes in behavior was questionable. It's kind of hard to keep up with the story when the show keeps jumping around. But when it comes to the action sequences, it knows how to deliver. In addition, combined with a great soundtrack, which was awesome. Although, I did wished that the music and the action/animated visuals would be equally great as the story itself.
I rarely watch mecha series, but I decided to give it a try with this series, and it's all thanks to the hype behind it and the attractiveness of the animation designs. In the end, I gave up on trying to understand what the main focus of this story was and just mindlessly enjoyed it for its own sake. Even after watching the ending, I still feel indifferent about this series. However, did I regret watching this? No, because by watching this I have learned my lesson so that next time I'll try to avoid this type of anime.
