Bloody Monday - Saving the World, One Hack at a Time - Final Thoughts

The first episode was a two hours long, so it felt like I was watching more of a movie than an episode because it was so action packed and exciting. But after I watched the first episode, I thought it was awesome and would definitely continue to watch the rest of drama. It's action packed, thrilling, and it was very suspenseful which kept me over the edge.

Takagi Fujimaru (Mirura Haruma) is just a regular high school student who gets entangle in a war between the Japan's Public Safety Special Third unit or the THIRD-I and the Russian terrorists who unleashes a deadly virus know as Bloody X to the citizens of Tokyo. However, Fujimaru is not just a student, but also a genius hacker known by his cyber alias name, Falcon. The THIRD-I have known him, not only that his father works there, since they have caught him doing illegal hacking in the past, and decides to hire Fujimaru to help them hack into the Russia's terriost's "Bloody Monday" plans about the virus. But the terrorists are not only targeting Japan, but also targeting and threatening Fujimaru's friends and family in order to stop him from hacking into their system. With his great hacking skills, he hopes to save Japan and stop the terrorist from hurting any more innocent lives.

Sato Takeru as Kujo Otoya , Fujimaru , and Fujii Mina as Asada Aoi

This drama was my first exposure to the actor Miura Haruma and I thought he did a very nice acting in this drama. I wanted to know more about the actor and so, I looked him up and find out what other movies and dramas he's in. Which led me to movies like Koizora and dramas like Samurai High School. He does do a great job at playing an angsty teenage character and knows how to convey his emotions.

The second season take place two year later after the incident of Bloody Monday. Fujimaru is still haunted  about what happened in the previous season. Now, he wants to focus on his own goals in life and wants to retire from hacking. But it seems like the terrorists are not finished with him just yet. Again, Fujimaru is thrown into a war of THIRD-I Vs. terrorist and this time it deals with nuclear weapons.

I thought that the second season was okay. But I loved the first season more because the story was new, fresh, and it's nothing that I have seen before. I think I lost my enthusiasms for the second season. But it still had the same thrilling atmosphere as the previous season. They seem to added more depth to some of the characters and even the old terrorists from season one like J (Narimiya Hiroki) and Orihara Maya (Kichise Michiko). Also, Fujimaru's friend, Kujo, gets an development and plays an important role in this season. But the concluding story ended ambiguously, but I doubt that there will be a third season for this series. Because, I don't think there's any more to add to these characters and the story.

It's weird that the THIRD-I whose own nation depends on their protection and safety, seems to get fooled by the terrorists very easily. They have to rely on a high school student to do all of the difficult hacking for them. And yet, the THIRD-I team doesn't have any of their members who is capable of doing that particular hacking. It just strange. I would be very worried if my own country's lives are in their incompetent hands. But oh well, it's just a show. Their failures keeps the show entertaining and suspenseful.

Overall, it had a really good suspense story. And, I enjoyed it because it was very different from the usual J-drama that were out there. There's lots of twists and unexpected moments. I would recommended to avoid thinking any logical thoughts about the drama's plot becuase it might hinder you from enjoying this drama.
